Headaches can occur after a concussion for many reasons. Remember that a concussion is a traumatic brain injury due to a jolt or blow to the head or neck resulting in a chemical change in your brain giving you your current symptoms. A thorough examination can pinpoint why you are having headaches, whether it be stemming from muscle pain in your neck from whiplash or decreased visual skills causing eye pressure or head pain. Problems with visual efficiency skills and information processing can cause strain and fatigue and initiate a headache while you are driving, in the classroom or on a computer screen. We work with specialized optometrists to help you relieve your symptoms.
Anxiety can be caused by the stress of life changes after a concussion or due to chronic post-concussive symptoms. Mindfullness and stress reduction techniques can help while you recover.
